The Taj Mahal - Agra, India

Taj Mahal by day is a wonder to behold. See the Taj Mahal on a moonlit night, and it will take your breath away. The white dome radiates the moonlight and shines. The air is so clear you will see more stars than you ever thought possible. If you are contemplating a trip to India, don't pass up the Taj Mahal and try to view it at night as well if possible.
The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India. The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned it as a mausoleum for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It was designed to show the Mughals undying love for her. Construction began in 1632 and was completed in approximately 1648.
The Taj Mahal (sometimes called "the Taj") is generally considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements of Indian, Persian, Turkish , and Islamic architectural styles. While the white domed marble mausoleum is the most familiar part of the monument, the Taj Mahal is actually an integrated complex of structures. The 4 white towers are slightly asymmetrical so you can view all 4 towers at once with an unobstructed view, and the pond reflects the beautiful structure and the sky in all it brilliance. In 1983 the Taj became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was cited as one of the new 7 Wonders of the World by www.new7wonders.com.
A visit to this shining jewel will not soon be forgotten!
